What Is Schroders’ Hiring Process?

Schroders Online Application

All employment opportunities at Schroders have a similar recruitment process that all start with an online application.

The online application is your first impression on the hiring team, so you will want to be sure that you identify your strengths and why you are an excellent fit for the job from the beginning. You will need to answer some basic pre-employment questions during this application process, usually competency and industry based. Each answer will have a 200-word limit, so be sure that you are brief but thorough in your responses.

In addition to this questionnaire, you will also need to upload an updated CV. Be sure to use this opportunity to highlight how you embody Schroders’ fundamental values., You will also want to read the role description carefully to highlight relevant skills and experience.

Psychometric Tests

Once your application passes the initial screening process, you will complete numerous online SHL psychometric tests. There are a couple of tests that all candidates will complete, regardless of their chosen program path:

Logical Reasoning Test

The SHL logical reasoning test will assess your cognitive abilities, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The test will present a series of figures, and you must determine which figure comes next based on the pattern you identify.

Test takers can expect to have 18 to 20 minutes to answer questions across three sections:

Numerical Reasoning Test

Applicants can also expect to take the SHL numerical reasoning test. This exam will require you to interpret numerical information given in graphs, tables, or other numeric forms. An advanced understanding of math is not needed, but you will need a basic knowledge of number sequences, graphs, percentages, and statistics.

For this test, you will have 20 minutes to answer 18 questions.

Video Interview

Those who do well on the initial assessments will participate in the Schroders video interview. This interview will consist of six to eight pre-selected questions that you will record responses to using the Aon Cut-E platform. These questions will be firm-oriented, business-oriented, and competency-based.

You will have two minutes to prepare your response after each question and two minutes to record your answer to each. At the end of the interview, you will also have two minutes to add any other information you would like the hiring team to know. The entire process will take between 25 and 40 minutes.

Assessment Centre

After reviewing your video interview responses, the hiring team will attend the assessment centre if the hiring team thinks you would be a good fit. The team will tailor this event to the job you are applying for, but all positions have similar activities at the event.

You will have a face-to-face interview with a member of human resources and a senior manager. During this interview, they will ask mostly competency-based questions to confirm you could perform the duties required of the role.

You will also participate in several tasks, such as a group activity or presentation on a given case study. These tasks will assess your ability to work in a team, perform under pressure, and complete tasks similar to what you would encounter in the position.

The hiring team wants to see your passion and core values shine through during this event. Be sure to remain enthusiastic and showcase why you are the best candidate for the position.

Final Interview

If you are applying for a position in the graduate program, you will do a final face-to-face interview with senior staff members in the area that houses the position. This interview will cover a range of question topics, including your skills, experience, and ability to perform the job.

Before completing the final interview, be sure to review your CV and application so you are prepared to answer any questions that your assessors may ask. It is also a good idea to prepare questions for the hiring team to clarify any aspects of the company or role that you are unsure of and ask about the culture to ensure you are a good fit.
