Online Application
The hiring process at RPC starts with the online application. RPC has a career search portal on their website that allows you to look through the different open positions and create job alerts for new positions that come available.
The application only takes a few minutes and asks for basic contact information, work experience, and education history. You will also need to upload an updated version of your CV during this process. Be sure that the document looks professional and is free of all typos.
RPC’s Psychometric Tests
If your application is successful, you will graduate to the online assessment portion of the recruitment process.
RPC utilizes the Watson Glaser test. This exam comprises five sections that will assess your analytical and logical reasoning skills and your ability to think critically. Critical thinking is an important skill to have at RPC, so they take the results of this exam seriously.
Each of the five sections of the Watson Glaser test will test different cognitive abilities. These sections are:
Inference: In this section, the candidate will receive a list of facts followed by an inferred statement. They will then need to determine if that statement is true based on the presented facts.
Recognize Assumptions: The applicant will read through a statement of facts followed by an assumption. They will then need to decide if the assumption made is correct.
Deduction: The test taker will read a statement of facts and a concluding statement. The candidate must then decide if the statement follows the facts given.
Interpretation: The exam will provide a paragraph followed by a concluding statement. The applicant must determine if the statement follows the paragraph without a shadow of a doubt.
Evaluation of Arguments: The applicant will receive a question followed by an argument. They must then determine how strong the argument is.
There are two separate versions of this test. The 80-question test has a time limit of 60 minutes, and the 40-question test has a 30-minute time limit.
Assessment Centre
If you do well on the online assessment, you will attend the assessment centre. This event brings together multiple candidates to assess their strengths, leadership skills, communication skills, and ability to work together as a team.
During this event, you will encounter several group and individual activities evaluated by the hiring team. Here are a couple of examples of activities in which you may participate.
Group Exercise – In the RPC group exercise, you will work with other candidates to discuss a problem and come up with potential solutions. This assessment will show the hiring team how well you communicate with others and work as a team. It is essential to show the assessor that you are a leader with great ideas and a team player. Remember that RPC values inclusion and places priority on a nurturing environment. While you want to speak up and be part of the conversation, listening and engaging with others about their ideas is just as important.
RPC Presentation – During the assessment centre day, you will also likely give a presentation to the hiring team. You will be given a topic and asked to prepare this presentation ahead of the event. After presenting, members of the hiring team will ask you questions about the topic to test your knowledge and see how well you work under pressure.
Interview – The last stage of the hiring process is the final interview. This interview will be with a member of the hiring team and will likely detail your past work experience, relevant skills, and reasons for wanting to work for RPC. They may also ask behaviour-based questions to understand more about your working style and assess if you are a good fit for the role and the company.
