What Is M&G’s Hiring Process?

M&G is looking for exceptional people who are ambitious and take the company’s core principles to heart. They want people who will make their mark on the business and who the company can invest in long-term. To find these employees, M&G has a thorough but straightforward application and interview process.

M&G has numerous job opportunities across multiple business areas. They also have openings for internships, recent graduates, and seasoned professionals.

Online Application

Once you have decided to apply for a position at M&G, you will complete an online application and note what area of work suits your skills and abilities. The application is short and will ask for your contact details and an updated CV. Be sure that your CV is accurate and highlights your strengths well.

M&G’s Assessments

The next part of the M&G recruitment process is the online assessments. These exams will assess your personality and reasoning skills to ensure that you are a good fit for the position. The tests will likely include:

  • Logical Reasoning Test: The logical reasoning test is a psychometric exam that assesses your ability to draw conclusions from given information. Since all roles at M&G require information analysis, this is a test you will want to do well on. The questions on this test cover a broad range of topics and are all multiple choice. Though you will not be under a time limit when taking this test, answers cannot be changed once selected.
  • Situational Judgement Test: The situational judgement test (SJT) will assess your ability to draw conclusions from simulated situations. Because roles at M&G are high-pressure and client-facing, you will likely have to respond to challenging problems that revolve around client satisfaction.
  • Personality Test: The personality test will examine your professional qualities and other personality traits. M&G is looking for candidates who align with the company values and fit in well with the team. The questions in this test will be job-specific, but it is important to keep their values in mind and be honest when answering the questions.

Video Interview

If you do well on the online assessments, you will be sent a link to a HireVue automated video interview. During this interview, you will have 30 seconds to read a preselected question, after which you will have three minutes to record a response to that question.

The questions in this interview will be strength-based and refer back to the CV you submitted with your online application. Be sure to know your CV well and use concrete examples in your responses.

It is important to know that there are no breaks between questions, and there is a three-minute limit on each response. You will not have a chance to review or re-record your answer before submitting it. Because of these strict guidelines, it is essential to prepare for this video interview like you would an in-person interview. Be sure you are in a distraction-free environment and that you have rehearsed answers to common interview questions.

Assessment Centre

Candidates who do well in the interview process will attend an assessment centre. This event will consist of several group and individual exercises, interviews, and exams. Some activities that you may encounter during this event include:

  • Interview: You will likely have an interview during your assessment centre day. These interviews are typically with two team members to which you are applying and will focus on your skills and ability to perform the tasks required in the role. Be sure that your answers during this interview are consistent with the responses from your video interview.
  • Aptitude Tests: You may also take additional aptitude tests. These tests will be similar to the online assessments you took earlier in the process and are meant to vet out any candidates who were not truthful in the initial exam.
  • Roleplay Test: In the role playtest, candidates will read through a business scenario and come up with a solution. This test will examine your ability to communicate with others, analyze information, and strategize. Be sure to draw on your past work experiences to demonstrate your skills.
  • Group Exercise: In the group exercise, you will need to work with other candidates to solve a simulated workplace problem. Assessors will be looking at how you communicate with others and contribute to the team.
  • Report Writing: Reports are a common task for those working in finance, so you will likely have some kind of report writing activity during your assessment day. This test can last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes and could potentially cover any business correspondence, including a business strategy, memo, or formal emails.

How to Prepare for M&G’s Psychometric Tests?

M&G relies on their assessments to help them determine the best candidates for the position. Since these assessments have so much weight in the recruitment process, it is essential to prepare for these tests as best as you can.

One way to prepare for these assessments is through online practice tests. These tests will provide you with sample questions and help you feel more comfortable when taking the actual test.

Taking the time to prepare for the M&G assessments will increase your chances of doing well on the tests.
