With IQVIA being such a nice place to work, the hiring process is very competitive for all positions. It involves an application, multiple assessment tests, and one or more interviews.

What Is the Hiring Process at IQVIA?

As mentioned previously, the hiring process at IQVIA is very competitive due to the great benefits and nature of the work. The hiring process can vary depending on the position and experience of the applicant, but it tends to follow the same general outline listed below.

Initial Application

The hiring process begins when an applicant applies for a job using IQVIA’s official job portal. Creating an account on the portal is required to apply for a job. An applicant must upload their resume, CV, cover letter, and relevant licenses before applying for a job.

The application may ask some basic yes/no questions related to one’s experience during the process to determine if the applicant meets the minimum qualifications.

HR Interview

A recruiter from IQVIA will contact the applicant to set up an interview if they meet the minimum qualifications for the position. This interview will be a phone or video interview and will cover the applicant’s previous experience, their salary expectations, and motivations for working at IQVIA.

Technical or Management Interview

If the applicant does well with the HR interview, then they will have an interview with management or a senior member of the team they will join at the company. This interviewer will ask questions to determine if the applicant is a good fit for the team and if they have the necessary technical knowledge to work at IQVIA.

The number of interviews required varies depending on the position and the applicant’s performance in the first interview.

IQVIA Aptitude and Personality Assessment Tests

If the applicant passes the interviews, then they must take one or more assessment tests. IQVIA uses SHL tests, which give the test taker about one minute to answer each question. Here are some of the tests you might take during the IQVIA hiring process:

  • Personality TestMost positions at IQVIA require taking a personality test. IQVIA has personality profiles for each position and looks to hire applicants that best fit the personality profile of the job. It’s recommended to answer questions truthfully because the test will ask similar questions multiple times to catch any deception.
  • SHL’s Numerical Reasoning TestNumerical reasoning tests focus on analyzing numerical data rather than basic arithmetic. Applicants should be comfortable determining information from various numerical data sources that include charts, graphs, and tables.
  • SHL’s Inductive Reasoning TestInductive reasoning tests will test the applicant’s ability to identify patterns. Each question will have 2D and 3D shapes arranged in a particular way that changes over five frames. Applicants must select the proper continuation of the pattern from a list of potential choices.
  • SHL’s Verbal Reasoning TestA verbal reasoning test will test the applicant’s ability to glean information from a provided excerpt from a document. The questions should be answered only from the information provided in the text. This test will test the applicant’s ability to comprehend information in a text rather than their knowledge of any particular information.

How to Prepare for IQVIA’s Aptitude Tests?

As mentioned previously, IQVIA uses assessment tests to filter out the job applicant pool. It’s imperative that applicants do well on the assessment tests if they want to work at IQVIA.

Fortunately, it is possible to prepare for the assessment tests in a few different ways. The best way, by far, is to take timed practice assessment tests that have explanations for the answers. You should then review the explanations for any questions you answered incorrectly or struggled to answer. You should then take another practice assessment and repeat this process until you can consistently score 100% on the practice tests.

Reviewing numerical data such as graphs, charts, and tables is also a good idea if your position requires taking a numerical reasoning test. However, the biggest benefit will be taking as many practice tests as possible in preparation.
