What Is Finastra’s Hiring Process?

Online Application

You’ll need to submit an online application to begin the hiring process. This will ask for contact details, relevant skills, educational history, and work experience. You’ll also upload a current resume and cover letter to showcase your qualifications and motivations for applying.

 

Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test

Qualified applicants will take a few pre-employment exams, including the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT).

The 15-minute CCAT consists of 50 multiple-choice questions divided into four sections to test your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

 

Numerical Reasoning

The numerical reasoning section consists of 17 to 18 questions covering basic mathematical calculations and concepts. You will need to perform basic operations (addition, multiplication, etc.) and work with decimals, fractions, percentages, and data.

There are four question types in this section:

  • Word problems
  • Number series
  • Basic calculations
  • Tables and graphs

 

Verbal Reasoning

The verbal reasoning section consists of 17 or 18 questions and will use four question types to assess your ability to communicate effectively:

  • Sentence completion: Nine questions will present a sentence with a blank that you must fill with the appropriate word.
  • Attention to detail: Three questions will show two columns of words or phrases, and you’ll need to identify how many items are identical between the columns.
  • Analogies: Four questions present analogies where you must specify the relationship between word pairs and select the appropriate word to fit the pattern.
  • Antonyms: Two questions will show a word and ask you to determine which word has the opposite meaning.

 

Logical Reasoning

The logical reasoning section consists of four questions and has two question types:

  • Syllogism: Three questions will present several short premises that are considered to be true. You will then determine if a concluding statement is true or false based on the facts you already know.
  • Seating arrangement: One question will require you to identify the correct order that people or objects should be placed based on the rules provided.

 

Abstract Reasoning

The last section of the CCAT, abstract reasoning, consists of 11 questions with three question types:

  • Matrix: Three questions will present a 3×3 matrix with a blank square, and you must identify the underlying pattern and determine the missing image.
  • Odd One Out: Four questions will show five images, and you’ll need to find the underlying pattern to identify which figure does not belong with the others.
  • Next in Series: Four questions will present a series of images, and you must specify the pattern and determine what image will come next in the sequence.

 

Personality Test

Finastra Interviews

Candidates who do well on the assessments will graduate to the interview portion of the hiring process. Each candidate will participate in the following types of interviews:

  • Phone Interview: This will be a screening interview to confirm your information and qualifications and discuss your motivations behind applying for a position at Finastra.
  • In-Person Interview: This will focus on your behaviour and competencies. They will ask situation-based questions, such as describing a time you had to solve a problem in the workplace. Your responses should follow the STAR method, describing the Situation, Tasks, Actions, and Results in detail.

 

How to Prepare for the Finastra Assessment?

Doing well on the pre-employment exams is essential to succeeding in the hiring process. The best way to prepare for these assessments is to use online resources like practice tests that will provide sample questions similar to what you will see on the test and solutions to give you tips on approaching similar questions in the future.
