What Is EDF Energy?

EDF Energy is an integrated energy company that handles 5.22 million business and residential customer accounts a year. The British company is involved in electricity generation and the sale of natural gas to many homes and businesses across the UK. EDF values stability and longevity above all else—both in their services and in their environmental sustainability practices.

EDF employs over 11,700 individuals and is always seeking out individuals for their team. College graduates are encouraged to apply to EDF’s graduate schemes or to one of their open positions.

What Is EDF Energy Hiring Process?

EDF’s recruitment process has several phases. Job seekers are encouraged to explore the EDF job board to find a role that best matches their skills and work experiences. The first step is to fill out an application through EDF’s website.

Online Application

Submit your application with your resume/CV, a statement of interest, and any other related competency-based questions that are presented. Be sure to prepare for your application by reading over everything carefully before submitting your application.

EDF Energy’s Psychometric Assessments

Once your application has been processed, you’ll need to complete assessments related to the role. These range from aptitude tests to technical exams to determine your compatibility with the position.

  • Numerical Reasoning Test This presents charts, graphs, and other forms of data for you to analyze and answer questions on. You’ll be graded on your numerical aptitude and math skills.
  • Verbal Reasoning Test This assessment has several paragraphs to read through and answer questions about afterwards. Recruiters will be assessing your analytical and reading comprehension skills.
  • Logical Reasoning Test This diagrammatic test presents diagrams and shapes in a pattern for you to determine the next step. Recruiters evaluate your analytical and critical thinking skills based on your score.

These are timed and require a minimum score to move forward in their recruitment process. Improve your test taking ability and confidence levels with practice assessments ahead of time.

Interview

The initial screening has candidates meet with a management team member in person or via telephone/video call. Expect to discuss your work history and answer competency-based questions. Afterwards, selected candidates will be invited to EDF’s Assessment Centre.

EDF Energy’s Assessment Centre

The Assessment Centre has multiple parts scheduled in the day. Each experience is tailored to specific roles, so the exact exercises you’ll encounter may vary.

  • Group Exercise You’ll work in a team to solve a task presented by EDF. EDF grades based on how well you contribute to the team. Try to strike a balance between being confident and listening to your team members.
  • Role Play Candidates are paired up and asked to analyze presented data to resolve a problem. Your teamwork and how you explain your solution using the data will be evaluated.
  • Written Exercise Candidates are given an informative brief on a problem and asked to create a thoughtful response using grammar and communication skills.
  • Presentation – This is used to establish how well you can speak to an audience while giving a clear and concise presentation. EDF is looking to see your communication skills, how well you answer follow-up questions, and your ability to lead a discussion.

How to Prepare for EDF Energy Assessment?

The best preparation you can do before your assessment is to practice as much as possible. Practice sample questions and assessments will simulate what it will be like when you are working on the real assessment, so becoming comfortable with providing accurate answers while working under pressure is vital to your success.
