Aptitude Employment Tests Prep

What Is Atos?

Atos is a multinational IT and consulting company. Founded in France, it now employs about 111,000 people across more than 71 countries. Roughly 2/3 of these employees are on multi-year contracts.

Atos has three main divisions: Infrastructure & Data Management, Business & Platform Solutions, and Big Data & Cybersecurity. It works with companies and public sector organizations across a range of industries. At present, most of its revenue comes from Europe.

Benefits for employees vary by country. They might include:

  • Bonuses, meal vouchers, or car allowances
  • Pension schemes or insurance
  • Flexible or part-time work
  • Learning and development through an online portal and learning centre

What Is Atos’ Hiring Process?

Atos advertises all its positions on the jobs.atos.net website, and will process job seekers’ applications faster if they are submitted online. Sourcing specialists will assess your skills, experience and academics. If they believe you are a good match for the position, Atos will contact you. You will still be considered for other positions if you are rejected at this pre-employment stage.

The location, type, and seniority of the job you’re applying for will determine what the interview process looks like. You might have one or two interviews, or you might need to attend an assessment centre. Atos will explain the process if you are chosen for interview.

Many applicants to Atos, including its graduate programs, face four rounds of screening. First, they submit an application form. Next, they take an online test. After that, they complete a video interview about their motivations, competencies and strengths. Finally, they attend a day-long assessment centre which includes one-on-one interviews, a case study and a group exercise.

Atos’ Psychometric Tests

Atos will require you to complete different tests depending on the position you’re applying for. These tests might have been created by Atos, or might be supplied by Sova.

The types of tests may include:

Some tests (including those used for the UK graduate programme) start with practice questions so that you can get used to the format. Applicants to certain schemes, such as the UK apprenticeship programme, may also receive a pre-test call from someone on the recruitment team to prepare them for the tests.

Interviews

Atos conducts competency-based telephone interviews, pre-recorded video interviews, and face-to-face interviews. The telephone interviews have been outsourced, so you might find yourself talking to a recruiter instead of an Atos representative.

Applicants have described sample questions such as:

  • Which applications do you know, and which did you use in your university projects before applying to Atos? (Electronic engineer, Italy)
  • How do a router and a modem differ? You will need to know things like this when working at Atos. (Technical support, the Philippines)
  • What was the hardest corporate decision you had to take that affected your coworkers? If you had to make that decision again – say, at Atos – would you decide differently? (Executive, Colombia)
  • Would you move to [a certain town] to work at Atos? (Consultant intern, France)

Atos interviews may be challenging, especially at higher levels. One prospective managing partner describes an interview conducted simultaneously with a managing director, a sales manager and HR which lasted for three hours. On the flip side, video interviews for the UK graduate programme tend to last half an hour, and graduates are advised to allocate 45 minutes.

Assessment Centre

Atos assessment centre have three parts: competency-based individual interview, a group exercise, and a case study. They tend to start at about 9 in the morning, and involve real Atos managers as assessors. You may have more than one short interview, with one of the interviews likely being with a manager in your specialty area.

The group exercise tends to last for 20-30 minutes. Atos wants you to show adaptability, so the assessors might change the details of the task mid-exercise. One past exercise was to plan a party for the Olympics.

The information you get in the case study could be in email, report, or message form. Over 45 minutes or so, you may need to create a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation (on a laptop provided by Atos) before presenting it to two hiring managers. The managers may ask questions afterwards. Past case study examples include developing a business analytics tool and planning how the director could save 20% of their time.

One French intern describes a more relaxed recruitment process – perhaps because they were applying for an internship or a less technical role. They listened to speeches and ate lunch, before taking a language and culture test and being interviewed.

Atos Interview & Assessment Tips

Atos has several tips for interview candidates. They suggest that you think about why you are applying, consider your strengths, and back up your points with explanations and examples.

If you get through to an assessment centre, you should bring your ID and any other documents Atos has asked for. Don’t let one bad performance deter you – just make sure you do well in the next exercise! Ask questions and do not try to second-guess what they are looking for.

You don’t need to lead the group exercise to make a good impression – just make sure you add value. Dominating the group might actually be counterproductive, because you need to show that you can work well within a team.

How to Prepare for Atos’ Assessment?

Extensive preparation can really help you demonstrate your aptitude. Take lots of practice tests, both free and paid, that give explanations for their answers. This will improve your chances of scoring highly and getting the Atos job you want.
