What Is the Recruitment Process at Ashurst?

Online Application

You can use Ashurt’s website to search for open positions. Once you find one that you qualify for, you can submit an application form to begin the hiring process. This form will ask questions you’ll need your CV to answer, such as your educational background and previous work experience. It will also ask questions about necessary skills and your motivation behind applying for a position at Ashurst.

Revelian Assessments

Applicants who are qualified for the position and pass the initial screening will advance to the assessment portion of the hiring process. The firm uses these exam scores to determine who is qualified for the position and who may be a good fit for the team, so doing well on these tests is essential.

Ashurst uses Revlian as their pre-employment test provider. They provide a variety of aptitude exams that assess skills such as cognitive and abstract reasoning.

There are three tests that you should expect to encounter during the hiring process:

Cognify Test

The Cognify Test is a gamified exam that assesses your analytical and problem-solving skills. The exam will present several mini-games related to numerical, verbal, and logical reasoning, such as:

  • Short Cuts: You must navigate a marble from point A to point B in the shortest distance possible.
  • Gridlock: You will solve puzzles by quickly matching pieces into a grid.
  • Resemble: You must replicate a pattern by placing and rotating blocks on the screen to fit a given grid.
  • Proof It: Find as many grammatical errors and misspelt words as possible.
  • Tally Up: Identify which group of tokens has the highest overall value.
  • Numbubbles: You will receive a target number and must locate and pop the corresponding number in bubbles on the screen.

This test will be timed and takes about 30 minutes to complete all the games.

Values Fit Exam

The values fit exam assesses your personal values and how well they align with the company’s values. You will receive a series of 20 values and characteristics to rank from most important to least important. This test is not timed but should only take about 10 minutes to complete.

It is essential to be honest in your rankings. However, you’ll also want to keep in mind the company culture, values, and what they are looking for in an employee.

Emotify Test

The emotify test will be another gamified exam with mini-games that assess your emotional intelligence. There are two games you will play:

  • Emotional Ties: You will receive different situations and must identify what types of emotional results will come from the scenario.
  • Matching Faces: You will analyze the emotion on a person’s face.

You will have 20 minutes to complete this exam.

Case Study

The next stage of the process is the case study exercise. This will test your commercial awareness and ability to form and present an argument. You will have one hour to review all the materials, develop a sound argument, and effectively communicate your position. Be prepared to discuss and defend your argument with a senior associate after you complete the task.

Interview

The last stage of the recruitment process is the interview. This will likely be with a member of human resources and a senior associate. They will ask questions to learn more about your personality, behaviours, and motivations behind wanting to work at Ashurst.

The firm is looking for passionate people, so feel free to get excited in the interview and talk about what matters to you.

How to Prepare for the Ashurst Assessment?

The Ashurst hiring process is competitive. Therefore, you must stand out from the other candidates and prove that you can and are willing to complete the tasks required to succeed. Doing well on the online assessments is one of the best ways to show the hiring team that you are the right candidate for the job.

Ashurst has selected these assessments to give to candidates because the type of employee they want to hire has these skills and will do well on each exam. You can use online resources such as practice exams to prepare yourself for the assessments. These will show you what to expect on the actual test, and since these are unique gamified exams, that extra preparation will be beneficial and help boost your confidence.

Candidates who take the time to prepare for the exams are significantly more likely to do well on the assessments.
