What Is Air India?

Headquartered in New Delhi, Air India is the flagship airline of India. It is the largest international airline out of India, with its fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft serving 102 destinations. Air India is a member of the Star Alliance and as of 2021 is no longer state-owned.  It was acquired by Talace Private Limited, a division of Tata and Sons.

What Is Air India’s Interview Process?

There are several ways to apply for a position with Air India. For some positions, there are walk-in interviews scheduled for specific days. On these days candidates should appear appropriately dressed, and with an updated resume. The dates of these events can be found on the careers website. For other positions, you can submit your application online. Remember to upload your CV and any other required documents. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Whether you attend a walk-in interview, or you applied online and were shortlisted, there will be several different parts on the day of your interview. Air India’s Psychometric Tests

  • English Language Exam Air India wants its employees, particularly cabin crew to be proficient in both Hindi and English. Applicants for most customer facing positions should be prepared to demonstrate competence in speaking English.
  • Situational Judgment Test (SJT) – This test shows how well you are able to judge a situation and make the best decision. You will be given typical scenarios that you may encounter while performing your job. This will be followed by a list of possible responses. You must pick the response that will be most effective and best represent Air India’s values.
  • Personality Assessment Inventory Airline jobs can be very high pressure. The personality assessment helps the Air India recruiters make sure that their new hires have personalities that are compatible with a fast paced job.
  • Capacity Assessment – This is a test usually given to cabin crew to show if they have good spatial abilities.
  • Mechanical Reasoning Aptitude TestPilots, mechanics, and others may be given a version of this test. You will need to show a knowledge of machines and physics concepts. The difficulty will vary by position.

 

How to Prepare for Air India’s Assessment Tests?

Even though Air India offers training to new hires, you still need to show basic competencies to be considered for any of their positions. Put your best foot forward by showing up ready for the assessments. Practise your spoken and written English as frequently as you can. Verbal reasoning can be enhanced just by reading, or even doing something simple like a crossword puzzle.
