What Is ÖBB’s Hiring Process?

OBB usually hires through a hiring event. They do accept speculative applications and will post any vacancies on their website, where you can apply. You will be automatically notified after submitting your application and documentation. ÖBB Psychometric Tests

With all the positions available at OBB there is a wide variety of online tests. Train Operators, in particular, need to meet extremely strict standards. OBB uses the Schuhfried Vienna Railway Battery to test potential train operators and other railway employees.

 

The Vienna Railway Battery tests for:

 

INSBAT (Intelligence Structure Battery) – This test is used to assess an individual’s logical, or figural, reasoning, verbal fluency, and memory. This test is tailored to the job being tested for, and questions will range from comparing statements to draw conclusions to test verbal abilities and logic, selecting the correct symbol to complete a series of matrices, and memorizing a figure which is then disassembled and must be identified and selected from 5 choices.

COG (Cognitrone) – To measure concentration the Cognitrone test, or COG, will present a figure, followed by other figures from which the identical one must be selected.

WAVF (Sustained Attention) – This is a test of perception and vigilance. There will be either a sound or a visual stimulus that will gradually change in intensity. The test participant must react when they notice the change.

LVT (Visual Pursuit Test) – During this test, the screen will be filled with wavy lines. The candidate will be instructed to identify the end of a particular line and must do this as quickly as possible. To add to the difficulty, two keys must be pressed at all times to prevent tracing the lines.
